Christina McAllister
Christina McAllister, 92, died on Aug. 17 at her home.
Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church of Kearny. Arrangements were by the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. Private cremation was held.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Mrs. McAllister settled in Kearny in 1948. She lived in Kearny before moving to Brick five years ago. She was a clerk with the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, New York City, for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Daughters of Scotia and the Liberty Chapter of the Order if the Eastern Star.
She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh McAllister; mother of Christine (late Barrie) Thomson and Diane (Ken) Bower; grandmother of six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

Joseph Portella
Joseph Portella died on Aug. 21 at home. He was 76.
Born in Newark he lived in Kearny for 33 years. He was a retired longshoreman.
Husband of Dolores (nee Rodriguez), he is survived by his children Janine Schillia and Joseph Portella. He was the brother of Barbara Gaglioti, and also surviving are three grandchildren.
Memorial visiting will be on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. at the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny. Service will begin at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of N.J.

Eugene Pegram
Eugene Pegram, of Kearny,  died on Aug. 20 in Clara Mass Hospital. He was 50.
Gene bartended at Donegal Saloon in Kearny.
Son of the late Gene and Pat (Leahy) Pegram, he is survived by his sister Julie and her husband Glenn Deitz; his nieces and nephew, Catie Griffith, Glenn Deitz and Julianne Deitz; his grandnephew J.J. along with many members of the Pegram and Leahy families.
Private arrangements were by the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home of Kearny. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation, One Clara Maass Drive, Belleville, N.J. 07109.
