LYNDHURST –
Public school officials here are hoping that Dec. 13 will be a lucky day for the district when they ask township voters to pass a new referendum to finance what they describe as badly needed school plant upgrades.
Although the exact amount won’t be nailed down until sometime next month, Schools Superintendent Tracey Marinelli said she expected the cost would be somewhere “from $19 million to the mid-$20 (million)s.”
Some key variables still being reviewed, such as expanding air-conditioning at the high school beyond special purpose rooms and adding elevators to elementary schools, could drive the cost to the upper part of the range, she said.
How much that would translate to in extra school tax dollars has yet to be calculated, according to Marinelli and David DiPisa, the district’s school business administrator.
