LYNDHURST –
Local police, and the FBI, are still searching for the lone Halloween-masked bandit who held up the TD Bank at 571 New York Ave. last week and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Authorities said the man – wearing the creepy mask and an equally creepy brown wig –  entered the premises at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, vaulted over a counter and removed money from the cash drawers at several tellers’ stations.
“Get out of the way,” he reportedly ordered the employees as he made his leap, and then demanded, “Where’s the money?”
Two female tellers working behind the counter offered no resistance and were not injured during the robbery, police said.
“The suspect was behind the counter for less than one minute,” said Lyndhurst Det. Capt. John Valente.
After removing cash and placing it in his pockets, the robber jumped back over the counter and fled on foot – first hiking up his pants, which he had nearly lost during his gymnastics exhibition.
The entire episode was captured on the bank’s security cameras, which caught a nice shot of the culprit’s boxer-clad posterior as he scrambled back over the counter.
