Belleville
Clara Maass Medical Center is offering Chi Kung for women who have or have had breast cancer.  Two eight-week sessions will be offered Tuesdays, Sept. 13 – Nov. 1, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Education Room at 50 Newark Ave. Belleville, and Thursdays, Sept. 15 – Nov. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Center for Healthy Living, 292 Bloomfield Ave.,  Montclair.
Chi Kung uses breathing techniques, gentle movement and meditation to promote healing of the body and mind.

East Newark
East Newark Mayor Joseph Smith and the Borough Council will sponsor a day of remembrance ceremony for the events of Sept. 11, 2001, on Friday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. The event will be held at East Newark Borough Hall, 34 Sherman Ave. Borough Clerk Robert Knapp will be the master of ceremony. Guest speakers will include Smith, East Newark School Principal Robert Corbett and Karl Petry of Albert Ettlin American Legion Post #36.

Cecilian Seniors announce a welcome back business meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9. A trip to Atlantic City is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 14, to Resorts Casino. The cost is $30. Lyndhurst
The Barringer-Walker-Lopinto American Legion Post 139, Lyndhurst, will have its 10th anniversary 24-hour POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony starting at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, and ending at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. It will held on the grounds of the Post, 216 Webster Ave., Lyndhurst (between Park Ave. and Webster Ave.).  For 24 hours, veterans will provide a post member to guard the Remembrance Table. Personnel will be dressed in POW uniforms to act as prisoners and answer any questions regarding conditions that they would live under.

A veterans ward party will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Chestnut Hill Extended Care Facility, Passaic,  starting at 2:30 p.m. The party will be sponsored by an anonymous person who would like us to remember all those who lost their lives at the 9/11 attack and their families. Due to this person’s generosity, American Legion Post 139, Lyndhurst rehabilitation committee will distribute money prizes  and treats to the veterans including those bed-ridden If you would like sponsor a ward party, please call 201 438-2255.
Well-known N.J. photographer Walter Choroszewski will conduct a digital photo class at the Lyndhurst Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Choroszewski will help you develop a photo management plan for all of your digital images. He will compare and demonstrate some popular photo editing software with tips and tricks for e-mail and prints. NCAA wrestling champion and Nutley resident Michael Bonora will appear at the library on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. He will read from and discuss his first book, “Wrestling With Your Destiny,” just published this spring. In this book, he recounts inspiring moments from his wrestling career, and the many challenges of being a wrestler. He also hosts an instructional wrestling blog at http://michaelsmat.com.
