A seminar on Medicare will be presented at the library on Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. by Rhonda M. Benjamin, Esq. Benjamin has been practicing law since 1991. She specializes in Medicaid, Preservation of Assets, Guardianships, Trusts and Estates, Elder Law, Divorce, Real Estate, and Estate Planning.

The Mike Luipersback Trio will perform a free musical concert at the library on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1:30 p.m. The group will play jazz, Broadway, American pop, and music of the 1950s and ’60s.

A free seminar on the “ABC’s of Child Support” will be held at the library on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m., hosted by Meghan K. Gulczynski, Esq., an experienced trial attorney with a background in family law and landlord-tenant law.

The library is having a Children’s Halloween Costume Swap on Saturday, Oct. 13. Bring your clean, gently used children’s Halloween costumes to the Children’s Library by Oct. 13. For each costume you donate, you’ll receive a Swap Ticket, which must be brought back to the library on Oct. 13 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for you to choose a costume for each ticket. Don’t have any costumes to donate, but still want to participate? Come during the last hour of the Swap, from 1 to 2 p.m., and select a costume for a requested donation of $3. Have an attic full of good condition costumes that your grown children no longer need? Donate them to the Swap and help increase the selection for participating children. The library requests that all participants take only one costume per child, as any leftover costumes will be donated to Goodwill. Harrison

The New Jersey Department of the Treasury will have representatives checking for unclaimed funds for Harrison senior citizens on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. at the Harrison Senior Center. Refreshments will be served.

Ben Franklin will stop by the Lyndhurst Historical Society’s next meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., at American Legion Post 139, 217 Webster Ave.

Franklin will be portrayed by Jack Sherry, a teacher of American History at Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus. Sherry has been actively involved with living history re-enacting since 1980, portraying the common Loyalist soldier who fought during the American Revolution, 1775-1783.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. , the staff of the Tenafly Nature Center will present “Hawks, Owls, & Eagles . . . Oh, My!” at the Meadowlands Environment Center, DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst. Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting a free benefits seminar on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 44 Park Ave., room 300, at 12:30 p.m. Transportation will be available. All Medicare beneficiaries are encouraged to attend.

Learn about the 2013 Medicare updates and to overview the different Medicare plan designs including Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D for Prescription Drugs. There will also be a review of additional prescription assistance that may be available to some beneficiaries at the State level through PAAD and Senior Gold.

On Oct. 13, at 2 p.m., Saturday Opera Matinee at Nutley Library presents “L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love)” by Gaetano Donizetti, featuring the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Luciano Pavarotti stars in this comic opera about a young man who drinks a magic potion to make the girl he desires fall in love with him.

The Kootz perform at the Nutley Public Library celebrate Rocktober with a concert by The Kootz at the Nutley Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. Enjoy some of your classic rock and pop favorites done acoustically by this popular North-Jersey based band that has performed extensively throughout the area for the past 10 years. The band invites audience participation and encourages you to sing along.
