Kearny HS students rescued trapped fish after Hurricane Sandy

 

Photo courtesy of David Paszkiewicz In the aftermath of Sandy, Gunnel Oval was flooded. When the storm surge receded, fish were trapped on the ball fields with no way back to the marsh. Members of the KHS Fishing Club, dawning waders and fishing nets, rescued 76 Carp and brought them back to the marsh. The average weight of each fish was 7lbs and the club estimates a total of 532lbs of fish rescued.
