Free rabies clinic

Kearny Health Department announces that during the month of January, pet owners are required to renew their dog/cat licenses. License fees are as follows. Non-neutered/non-spayed animal license fees are $21 and $18 for animals that are neutered/spayed (with proof). An additional $25 late fee will be assessed for licenses renewed after March 31..

Licenses can be obtained at the Kearny Health Department, 645 Kearny Ave., Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by mail. Proof of a rabies shot, valid for the entire licensing year is required.

A free rabies clinic will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kearny Water Department, 570 Elm St. (corner of Laurel Avenue and Elm Street). Previous licensed pet owners will received a rabies vaccination certificate by mail that must be filled out and brought to the clinic with their pets that need this vaccination.

Also, Health Department is reminding dog owners that when their dogs are out on the streets, they must be walked by a responsible person and the dog’s litter must be removed immediately.
