April 4
At 7:16 p.m., police went to the parking lot of the Park Ave. Burger King on a report of a man possibly under the influence. They ended up arresting Piotr Maleszewski, 33, of Lyndhurst, after allegedly finding drugs and drug paraphernalia on him and in his vehicle. He was charged with possession of drugs, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe) and possession of a hypodermic needle. Bail was set at $2,000 with a 10% cash option.
April 5
At 12:40 a.m., police were called to a two-family home in the 200 block of Van Buren St. on a report of a burglary. Residents told police they’d left their home at 4 p.m. and when they returned at 10 p.m., discovered that an intruder had rummaged through their belongings. Police said they found pry marks on the door frame and surmised that was the point of entry. Residents told police that several men’s watches and assorted jewelry were missing. Investigators from Bergen County Sheriff’s Office BCI responded.
Someone shattered the passenger side window of a resident’s 2003 Pontiac while it was parked in the 700 block of Marin Ave. but nothing was apparently taken from the vehicle, police said. The incident was reported at 6:55 p.m.
At 9:06 p.m., police responded to a call from the Delta gas station on Ridge Road on a theft of services report. Police said the attendant told them that after he pumped $60 worth of gas into an off-white Nissan Xterra with New York plates, the driver gave him $34 in mixed bills and sped away.
April 9
Someone removed four tires from a 2013 Honda parked on the 600 block of Sixth Ave., police said. At 7:21 a.m., police were called to that location where they found the vehicle up on cinderblocks and stripped of its tires. Police said the vehicle’s owner told them they heard a noise outside their residence at around 3 a.m. but when they looked outside they didn’t see anyone.
April 12
At 12:25 p.m., police responded to the Courtyard by Marriott on Polito Ave. on a report of a burglary and theft. Police said an intruder forced open the side door of a private passenger bus from Rockford, Ill., while it was parked in the motel lot and removed six DVD monitors and a DVD player valued at several thousand dollars.
April 13
At 11:39 p.m., police were called to a residence in the 500 block of Prospect Place on a report of theft. The owner told police someone had taken a patio table umbrella valued at $50. – Ron Leir
