Kearny 

Kearny Baseball Booster Club holds its third annual golf outing at the Farmstead Golf Course, Lafayette, Saturday, June 13, at 1 p.m. The event includes gifts, drawings and prizes. Kearny Public Library, 318 Kearny Ave., announces the following programs:

  • “Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast” (G / 76 mins.), will be screened June 6 at 11 a.m. on the lower level of the Main Library. Donuts and light refreshments will be served.
  • Atka, The Amazing Eskie, visits the library Wednesday, June 10, at 6 p.m. An Eskimo dog, Atka has been featured on Animal Planet’s TV show, “Dogs 101.” The show is interactive and audience members will be invited to help Atka perform some of his tricks. The show is suitable for children of all ages. There is no registration for the show; however, seating is limited.   • The Vacation Reading Challenge begins June 10. Children can pick up a free book log at the main or branch library, read books of their choice and collect stickers and other rewards along the way – all free. Book logs must be completed and returned to the children’s room by Friday, Aug. 14.
  • A summer reading kickoff party will be held at the Branch Library, 759 Kearny Ave., Tuesday, June 16, 3 to 5:30 p.m. No registration is required. Selections from the library’s DVD collection may be rented for free for this day only. New Jersey Blood Services will conduct a blood drive at CEVA, 51 Midland Ave., June 15, 4:30 to 9 p.m.

The Salvation Army of Greater Kearny offers classes in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, every Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to noon. A National Trails Day Walk is set for Friday, June 5, 10 a.m. to noon, at DeKorte Park. Participants should meet at the Meadowlands Environment Center, 2 DeKorte Park. Landscape architects Katy Weidel, Joanne DiLorenzo and Lisa Cameron will escort groups through the one-square-mile park while discussing its history and the hurdles they overcame to build it. North Arlington Public Library, 210 Ridge Road, offers museum passes to the public for the Museum of the City of New York. The pass allows two adults and four children access to this museum.
