Job Haines Home, 250 Bloomfield Ave., is offering a free educational program on sleep apnea on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. sleep apnea is a condition that causes people to stop breathing while they sleep. Dr. Lopa Patel, who has an office located in Montclair, will lead the discussion. Her practice specializes in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Internal Medicine.

Older adults who have sleep apnea often go undiagnosed or are diagnosed having a snoring problem.

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority hosts “Halloween at the Meadowlands” on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at DeKorte Park. This event includes games, crafts, hayrides and Halloween stories in the Witch’s Den. A 40-minute guided “Creepy Creatures of Halloween and Why They’re Not So Bad Once You Get to Know Them” spooky walk is suitable for kids ages 5 to 12 accompanied by an adult. Throughout the walk, kids will meet bats, cats, spiders, and other spooky creatures.
