Miguel A. Alfaro Sr. 

Miguel A. Alfaro Sr. of Okeechobee, Fla., died on Oct. 22.

Arrangements are by the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Born in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico, Mr. Alfaro lived in Newark before moving to Florida five years ago.

He was a dispatcher with the MTA, New York, for 26 years, retiring in 2007. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was the beloved husband of Carmen Cruz Alfaro and father of Maria, Miguel Jr. (Katherine) and Daniel Alfaro. He was the loving brother of seven brothers and sisters and grandfather of Miguel, Edward and Josue Ramos, Jason Melendez, Victor and Derek Alfaro.

Marie A. Altobelli 

Marie A. Altobelli passed away on Oct. 19. She was 57.

Born in Kearny, she lived in Bloomfield for the past 10 years.

Marie was a special education teacher. She was an avid animal lover and adored her German Short Hair Pointers Shannah Rose and Savanna. She was a woman of deep faith and belonged to Faith Fellowship in Sayreville.

Daughter of Tito and the late Dolores (Rowlands) Altobelli, she is also survived by her former husband Michael Hennessy, the Rowlands, Mac- Millan, Martorelli, DeMassi, Coviello, Pardi and Maisto families and her dear friends Debbie Bjorkner, Cindy Enquist and Gary Freiwald.

Francis S. Jablonski 

Francis S. Jablonski passed away on Oct. 15. He was 99.

Born in Harrison, he lived many years in Kearny before moving to Point Pleasant Borough.

A memorial Mass was held at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Harrison. Entombment of ashes followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Arrangements were by the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny.

Mr. Jablonski served in the Army during World War II and was an automotive mechanic for PSE&G.

Husband of the late Eleanor (nee Preczewski), he is survived by his children Janice Riepe, Frank Jablonski, Ray Jablonski and John Jablonski, along with seven grandchildren.

Martin C. Kimball 

Martin C. Kimball, 86, of Kearny, died on Oct. 19.

Arrangements were by the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A Mass of Christian burial was offered at St. Cecilia›s Church, Kearny. Entombment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Born in Mystic, Conn., Mr. Kimball lived in Newark before moving to Kearny 32 years ago.

Mr. Kimball was a shipping foreman for Drakes Bakeries, Wayne, for 49 years, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 99, Kearny.

He served during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. He was also an avid jazz fan. He is the beloved husband of 63 years of Rosemarie Keane Kimball, father of Alan, Marty and the late Paul Kimball, father-in-law of the late Laura Kimball, brother of Betty Kennedy and grandfather of two grandsons. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Catherine T. McConnon 

Catherine T. McConnon (nee Flatley ), 95, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack.

Born in Harrison, she lived in North Arlington since 1951. She worked for Prudential Insurance Company in Newark for 10 years before retiring 22 years ago.

Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Patrick J., the devoted mother of Barbara Dziuba and her husband Robert and Beverly Azlan, the cherished grandmother of Casi Healey, Jennifer Pallotta, Matthew Bobenko and Kristin Burns, the adored great-grandmother of Brendan and Ryan Healey and Joseph Pallotta. Catherine was predeceased by 11 brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements were by the Parow Funeral Home, 185 Ridge Road, North Arlington. A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Maria G. Oliveira 

Maria G. Oliveira (nee Garganta) passed away at home in Kearny on Oct.18. She was 48.

Arrangements were by the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Fatima in Newark. Entombment followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Maria was the wife of Fernando Oliveira and the daughter of Maria and the late Manuel Garganta. She is also survived by her daughter Tiffany and siblings Dulcina, Joaquin, Salvador and Lucia.

Harry Parsons 

Harry Parsons died peacefully and suddenly in his home on Sept. 7. He was 73.

Harry was active in local and state politics in both New Jersey and Puerto Rico. He had many business ventures during his lifetime. One he was most proud of was developing an amusement park in Luquillo Beach, P.R. Harry had been a member of the Meadowlands Board of Commissioners.

Husband of Alejandrina (nee Valencia), he is also survived by his children Mabel Hans, Ryan, Luke and Thomas Parsons, his sisters Ellen Schiavo and Harriet Wagner and his brother Robert Parsons and his grandson Joshua.

Aide Tagnani 

Aide Tagnani, 85, of Kearny, died on Oct. 20 at home.

Arrangements were by the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A funeral Mass of Christian burial was offered at St. Cecilia’s Church, Kearny. Entombment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Born in Frontone, Italy, Mrs. Tagnani settled in Kearny in 1955, living there until her passing.

She was a self-employed seamstress for many years.

She was the beloved wife of 56 years of the late Enzo Tagnani, dear mother of Roseann Cook (Gerard) and Randee Soriano (Bob) and grandmother of Jessica and Michael Soriano. She was predeceased by her two sisters and brother, all of Italy. She is also survived by her many close Kearny friends.

Anne Loretta Toussaint 

Anne Loretta Toussaint (Lynch), 90, of Matawan, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Madison Center, Matawan.

She was born and raised in Jersey City and lived in Kearny prior to moving to Matawan nearly three years ago.

Anne was a homemaker. She was a Rosarian of St. Cecilia’s Church in Kearny, loved traveling with the seniors, Bingo, was an avid Giants fan and enjoyed reading The Star Ledger and The Observer.

Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Norman Toussaint in 1989; her parents Catherine and William Lynch; her daughter Patricia Miller in 2007; her brothers William and Frank Lynch; her sisters Mary Halleran and Teresa Gibbs. Surviving are her sons Michael, Thomas, Donald and Gerald Toussaint; her daughter Jacqueline Toussaint; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals, 233 Carr Ave., Keansburg. A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Ann’s Church, Keansburg, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.jacquelinemryanfh.com
