Clara Maass Medical Center will offer a series of parent education classes for which pre-registration is required. To register, call 1-888-724-7123, ext. 4. Here’s the schedule:

  • Weekend Childbirth Series is set for Saturday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Sunday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. This class provides information on the birth process, relaxation and breathing techniques, medication and postpartum adjustment.

Cost is $100 for couples who will be delivering at Clara Maass Medical Center and $120 for all other couples.

  • Baby Shower Infant Care Class takes place Wednesday, Dec. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m.

For families planning to deliver at Clara Maass, this program covers basic infant care, safety and postpartum concerns. A physician’s signature on the registration form is required to attend.

Belleville Elks Lodge 1123, 254 Washington Ave., will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Donors must be at least age 17, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. All donors should eat a light meal before donating blood. Also donors must bring a signed form of ID and their social security number.

Donors over age 75 must have a note from their doctor permitting them to give blood. For more information, call the Blood Services of New Jersey at 201-444-3900.

Harrison 

The Harrison Senior Center, 221 Harrison Ave., will host the following programs:

  • A holiday party for the Harrison Senior Citizens will be held on Dec. 23 at 11:30 a.m. Guests will enjoy lunch with holiday music.
  • An Alzheimer’s Awareness seminar, led by Kristine Allen, president and cofounder of the ACT NOW Foundation, is set for Dec. 29 at 11:30 a.m.
  • SHIP-Medicare Forum will be held on Jan. 14, 2016, at 7 p.m.

Kearny 

Kearny High School Music Department invites the community to a free holiday/ Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., in the school auditorium, 336 Devon St.

Kearny Public Library, 318 Kearny Ave., will host a program on dinosaurs, open to grades K to 3, on Monday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., sponsored by the Morris Museum. Admission is free.

Lyndhurst Public Library, 355 Valley Brook Ave., has once again purchased vouchers to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City through its library membership program. Each voucher may be redeemed for free general admission and one special exhibition, film, or live animal exhibition of the visitor’s choosing. The vouchers are located in the library’s children’s room and are available to patrons with a valid BCCLS Lyndhurst library card.
