Bald Eagles in Kearny? You’re not seeing things. Kearny resident Barbara Third-Dobrovics spotted these two in town a few weeks ago. For the safety of the birds, we’re not revealing their nesting location, other than to say they are, indeed, nesting in uptown Kearny. We thank Barbara for sharing these great photos with our readers. Also, remember, the Bald & Golden Eagle Protection Act prohibits anyone, without a permit issued by the Secretary of the Interior, from taking bald eagles, including their parts, nests or eggs. A violation of the act can result in a fine of $100,000 ($200,000 for organizations), imprisonment for one year, or both, for a first offense. Penalties increase substantially for a second violation of the act. A second violation of the act is a felony.
