LYNDHURST —

A dedicated dozen members of the Lyndhurst Police Department were singled out for recognition recently for their work rooting out illegal drugs in the community.

The New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association has selected the LPD’s Patrol/Criminal Investigation Divisions as this year’s recipients of its NJNEO Unit and Individual Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Law Enforcement Award, it was announced last week.

The LPD individual recipients are Sgt. Richard Pizzuti, Dets. Vincent Auteri and Ron Guirland and Officers Nick Abruscato, Chris Cuneo, Rob Fernandez, Charles Giangeruso, Paul Haggerty, William Kapp, Tom McSweeney, Steve Passamano and Phil Reina.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our police department,” said Public Safety Director/Commissioner John Montillo. “From our police chief down, we have extremely talented and dedicated individuals who help to keep our community and residents safe.”

Police Chief James O’Connor added: “The NJNEOA recognizes those individuals who exhibit a high degree of professionalism, integrity and dedication, above and beyond the call of duty.

“The members of our department work and train hard every day. Serving our residents and community are what it’s all about. We appreciate the NJNEOA recognition very much.”
