KEARNY –

A multi-car accident at Kearny and Oakwood Aves. sent two motorists to Clara Maass Hospital on July 14.

The accident occurred at 8:28 a.m. when a female Kearny resident traveling east on Oakwood ran a red light, according to police.

When the driver entered the intersection, her 2002 Mitsubishi Galant struck a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder traveling south on Kearny Ave., police said.

Once struck by the Galant, the Pathfinder overturned and collided with a 2003 Honda Accord, according to police reports.

The Kearny Ambulance Squad responded and took the drivers of the Galant and the Pathfinder to Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and have since been released, police said.

Police said that all vehicles involved in the accident were totaled and towed from the scene. Police charged the driver of the Galant with assault by auto and reckless driving.
