Lawsuit filed in NJMC tax dispute

KEARNY –
A battle over tax-sharing payments by communities in the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) District has now spilled over into the courts.

Last week, the Town of Kearny filed a complaint in Hudson County Superior Court seeking to compel the municipalities of Carlstadt, Little Ferry, Moonachie, South Hackensack and Secaucus to pony up payments they are withholding from the consortium in protest that the tax-sharing program has become inequitable.
