Kearny

At the Main Library, 318 Kearny Ave., preschool play/ story times will continue on Tuesday mornings from 11 a.m. – noon, and on Thursday mornings from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Baby Steps play/story time for infants and preschoolers up to 3-years-old will continue on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m.

At the Branch library, 759 Kearny Ave., preschool play/ story times will continue on Thursday mornings from 10:15 – 11 a.m., but there will be no class on Jan. 24.

Families are invited to enjoy and explore Junior Jam’s original music from 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 16, at the Main Library. Junior Jam is two people, Jeff and Adrienne, who will perform their action songs “Opposites,” “Silly Words” and others. Junior Jam has received awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. CDs will be available for purchase. The performance is free. Seating will be first-come first-served.

Children ages 5 and older are invited to attend an art class with Mrs. Mills from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Main Library. The library will provide the art supplies for making art about animals that hibernate in winter. Seating will be firstcome first-served.

St. Stephen’s Seniors will next meet on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. in Hedges Hall. Board members should note that the board meetings have been changed to the second meeting of the month. The winter celebration party will be held on Jan. 22 at noon. Upcoming trips include Doolan’s on Marc h 7. The anniversary party will be held on April 19 at the San Carlo. Lyndhurst High School Athletic Department will host a dinner to honor Jim Walker for 50 years of service to Lyndhurst baseball on Friday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. at The Graycliff, 290 Moonachie Ave., Moonachie. On Sunday, Jan. 6, the NJMC and Bergen County Audubon Society will hold a free two-hour guided nature walk beginning at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst and ending at Harrier Meadow in North Arlington. Meet at 10 a.m. at the visitors lot in DeKorte. Along the way, we’ll look for northern harriers, American kestrels and other raptors on the legendary Disposal Road. Nutley Public Library’s Teen Video Game Tournament will be held on the following Wednesdays at 3 p.m.: Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30 and on Thursdays: Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31.
