NORTH ARLINGTON–

A 39-year-old North Arlington man has been arrested on sex assault and child endangerment charges for allegedly engaging in “inappropriate sexual activity” with two girls, aged 12 and 13, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli reported last week.

The defendant has been identified as Richard Grossy, who was arrested at his High St. home June 19 by officers from the North Arlington Police Department and the prosecutor’s office›s Special Victims Unit.

Grossy is to be arraigned June 27 on two counts of sexual assault by sexual contact, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count each of aggravated criminal sexual contact and promoting obscene material, Molinelli’s office reported.

Bail was set at $250,000 with no 10% option, and Grossy was subsequently remanded to the Bergen County Jail. He has also been ordered to have no contact with the victims and to surrender his passport, authorities said.

Those victims, according to the prosecutor, were “12- and 13-year old female acquaintances.”

Authorities said the 12-yearold reported the incident to her mother, who contacted the North Arlington police, who notified the Special Victims Unit.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by members of NAPD, under the direction of Chief Louis Ghione, and the county SVU.

Grossy, who reportedly is married, is employed by Tech Compaction Systems & Recycling Equipment Corp. of Jersey City, authorities said.

Molinelli states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
