Drug busts keep cops busy

KEARNY –
A 55-year-old Rutherford man, with what Kearny Police Chief John Dowie described as “a taste for both money and drugs,” was arrested the evening of Aug. 5 after he allegedly displayed same on a local street corner.
Dowie said detectives from the Vice Squad were conducting surveillance at 6 p.m. at a bus stop on Belgrove Drive near Halstead St. when they spotted the individual snorting something from a rolled-up dollar bill. He then licked the bill.
The officers confronted the man, obtained identification and arrested him after confirming he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Seaside Park.
