    Washington Middle School Science teacher Theresa Muth will not be returning next year due to action taken by the Harrison School District officials. Muth had satisfactory evaluations and no clue of the events that went down at the HBOE.

    HARRISON – Judging by resident alarm through anonymous tips sent to The Observer office about an impeding Douglas hearing for a science teacher, some people in Harrison are tired of “business as usual,” a phrase used numerous times by townspeople. Washington Middle School teacher Theresa Muth was about to lose tenure two months before it would kick in. She was nearing her fourth year at the school but on May 6, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Frederick Confessore sent a letter to Muth stating he would not be recommending her reappointment for school year 2009-2010, even though on the books she has good reports. For the last two months, she has been caught in the web of confusion at the Harrison school district that is affecting her personally.

    Kearny gets new Weather Bug Weather Station from Department of Homeland Security

    Atop the Kearny Police Station on Laurel Avenue a new WeatherBug Weather Station has recently been installed. The station is intended to work in tandem with the WeatherBug Weather Station above the Harrison Weather Center. The project was spearheaded by Kearny Sergeant John Manley of the Office of Emergency Management and is designed to enhance the efficiency of the mesonet existing within Hudson County.
