Here’s a chance to get out of the house Saturday for a little while — though it will still require you and the kids to be in a vehicle …
The Township of Belleville is creating a novel pop-up event to “visit” the Easter Bunny and take in the beauty of its world-famous cherry blossoms.
Kids of all ages are invited to join a caravan on Saturday for a slow drive through two of the loveliest little streets in the Cherry Blossom Capital of America.
The breathtaking cherry blossoms will be impossible to miss as you drive down Mertz Avenue and Reservoir Place.
But, if you keep your eyes open, you might see the Easter Bunny and some of his friends.
The fun begins noon on Saturday, April 11.
“It’s important, especially for the children of the township, for us to maintain some sense of normalcy and even have a little fun during this health crisis,” Mayor Michael Melham said. “This is a unique and safe way for us to spread a little happiness and celebrate Easter.”
Participants should enter through Mertz Avenue by making a left from Joralemon Street. Therefore, you must be heading east on Joralemon toward Union Avenue and make a left onto Mertz.
Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus, no one will be able to pose for photos with the Easter Bunny and candy/Easter eggs cannot be provided to children.
