Mayor Alberto Santos invites local residents and business owners to an informational meeting with representatives from FEMA who are knowledgeable about the National Flood Insurance Program and the flood hazard maps along with Kearny Town Council members, the Town Engineer and the Town Administrator. This meeting is intended to review the new flood maps, flood zone designations and the effect these designations may have on property owners in the flood zones.

A crayon recycling initiative will take place in local area pre-schools in Nutley during the month of March. The Crayon Recycling Drive is being done in recognition of National Crayon Day which is March 31. The drive will take place in participating preschools throughout March and will conclude on April 5.
Crayons collected during the drive will be shipped to Crazy Crayons, a crayon recycling organization in the mid-west. Crayons will be melted down, re-shaped and reused to make special shaped crayons that can generally be found in specialty gift shops. The Township will receive a recycling summary report that will be submitted to the state for recycling credit.

The Department of Parks and Recreation invites Nutley youngsters in grades 2 through 6 to the eighth annual “Great Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt” on Thursday, March 28, at Reinheimer Park, located on Bloomfield Avenue across from the Recreation Annex Building. Children are asked to meet by the playground equipment to begin the festivities.
The egg hunt will begin at dusk. A golden egg will be hidden and the lucky winner will receive a large chocolate filled basket. Parents are encouraged to stay with the children during this event.
