Highlights from the Lyndhurst PD blotter

June 25

A Lyndhurst motorist was charged with careless driving, failure to keep right and DWI after a traffic incident that, police said, unfolded at 1:25 a.m. on Lake Ave. Police said a patrol unit westbound on Lake had to swerve to avoid being hit by an eastbound vehicle. The officer reversed direction, pulled over the errant driver, Rogerio Molinaro, 32, and issued him the three motor vehicle summonses.

A man with an apparent thirst for expensive booze was thwarted in an effort to swipe some from a local shop. Police said a man concealing his face with a bandana entered Lyndhurst Liquors on Valley Brook Ave. at 3:36 p.m., grabbed a bottle of peach vodka, valued at nearly $58, and ran off with it. Police said the store owner followed the man to New Jersey Ave. where officers responded and collared Endeavor Warrick, 19, of Lyndhurst, and seized the bottle of alcohol. Warrick was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

After noting that a motor vehicle traveling in the area of Riverside and Valley Brook Aves., at 2:06 a.m., had an expired inspection decal, police pulled over the car, operated by Philip Cruz, 22, of Kearny, and issued him a summons for the expired inspection. They also ticketed him on charges of suspended driver’s license and DWI.

Police said a tour bus driver drove himself into trouble by reportedly traveling at an excessive rate of speed, at 9:46 p.m., west on Valley Brook Ave. near Riverside Ave., where the roadway had been undergoing milling and paving work. Police Chief James O’Connor, who happened to be in the area, pulled over the driver, Donovan Fuller, 62, of Lodi, who, police said, became hostile and argumentative. Fuller, who works for Saddle River Tours, was given summonses charging him with careless driving and disorderly conduct. Police said the bus was carrying no passengers.

At 3:29 p.m., police came upon a vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection of Valley Brook and Riverside Aves. and the driver passed out. The driver, John Mancini, 57, of Elizabeth, told police he was taking a prescription drug. Mancini was issued a summons charging him with DUI and was taken to Hackensack University Hospital for examination. His vehicle was towed.

A Lyndhurst man making an appearance in Municipal Court, at 9:55 a.m., was issued a summons charging him with being under the influence of prescription drugs. Keith Parasmo, 23, was taken to Bergen Regional Hospital, Paramus, for examination. The Bergen County Jail website indicates that Parasmo was again in trouble on June 25 when he was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief with damage in Hackensack.
