Tom Shoebridge was asked to put to words the season that his Lyndhurst High School boys’ track and field team has enjoyed this spring.
“I can’t tell you how pleased I am,” said Shoebridge, who has dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the Golden Bears’ track program, first as an athlete, then as a coach. “It’s been a tremendous opportunity to coach these kids. I can’t begin to tell you how we all feel. We’re on Cloud Nine.”
The reason? Well, the Golden Bears had already captured championships in the Bergen County Relays, their own Richie Pezzolla Lyndhurst Relays, the New Jersey Interscholastic Conference-Meadowlands A Division championships and finally, the Bergen County championships, winning for the second straight year after never having won the title before.
