Play Monopoly with Lyndhurst E-squad; help save lives

Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad (LPES) will host a local Monopoly Game Tournament, in conjunction with Boiling Springs Bank, on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Homewood Suites by Hilton in East Rutherford.

Proceeds from the tournament will help the Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad buy equipment and fund training to better serve its community.

The tournament includes two 90-minute preliminary rounds of the Monopoly game that each participant is required to play, as well as a final round of play with the top six competitors to determine the winner. The cost to participate in the event is $30 if registered prior to Oct. 11. LPES is offering students a $5 discount and emergency responders a $10 discount. Participants can register after Oct. 11 for $40.

Prizes will be awarded to the top six performers. First place winner will receive $300, second place $150, third place $100, fourth place $75, fifth place $50 and sixth place

$35. Contestants will also be entered in a raffle for a door prize. Tournament winner will be reported to Hasbro for future regional, national and world monopoly tournaments.

The competition is one of many local tournaments held nationwide to assist organizations such as LPES in raising funds for their causes. This event is one of several that the emergency squad is hosting this year in an effort to raise enough funds to buy a first responders vehicle.
