The Kevin G. Harrison

Holy Cross Church hosts an all-class alumni reunion June 14, 1 to 5 p.m., at Holy Cross School, 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. S. Kearny

Kearny Public Library, 318 Kearny Ave., celebrates Mother’s Day with a special film series. Popcorn and light refreshments will be served. The schedule is as follows:

  • “Princess Diaries” (G/114 mins.), starring Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, will be screened Friday, May 15, at 3:30 p.m. • “Freaky Friday” (PG/97 mins.), starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, will be shown Friday, May 22, at 3:30 p.m.
  • “Parent Trap” (G/124 mins.), starring Hayley Mills and Maureen O’Hara, can be seen Saturday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m.

Presbyterian Boys-Girls Club, 663 Kearny Ave., hosts its annual spring dance Friday, May 8, 7 to 10 p.m. Guests are restricted to teenagers only. The dance will be supervised by Thomas Fraser, the former Lincoln School guidance counselor, and by members of the Board of Directors.

The Woman’s Club of Arlington hosts a spring luncheon Tuesday, May 12, at 12:30 p.m., at the Forest Hill Field Club, 9 Belleville Ave., Bloomfield. Participants are asked to bring new children’s books (for infant through the teenage years) that will be donated to the Kearny Public Library to support the summer reading program. The celebration will also include installation of new members and the new officers for 2015-2016. Admission is $35. W.H.A.T.   • A free skin cancer screening, open to all Lyndhurst residents ages 18 and over, is set for Monday, May 11, at 9:30 a.m.
  • A bi-annual blood screening, for Lyndhurst residents ages 18 and older, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3. Appointments begin at 8 a.m. There is a fee of $26. Payments can be submitted in cash or checks, payable to Medical Laboratory Diagnostics.

he Women’s Auxiliary of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church sponsors a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Middletown, N.Y., Thursday, May 14, leaving by bus from the church, 120 Prospect St., at 9:30 a.m. The day includes Mass, a hot lunch, a tour of the shrine, free time to visit the gift shop, private meditation, visiting outdoor shrines or relaxing. The Historic Restoration Trust of Nutley hosts an Antique Road Show at the Kingsland Manor, Kingsland St. and Lakeside Drive, Saturday, May 16, 1 to 4 p.m. Jon Felz of RZM Fine Arts & Antiques Inc. is doing the show as a fundraiser for the Manor. The Nutley Department of Public Affairs, 149 Chestnut St., will hold an open house for Nutley residents Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., “to learn about department services and where tax dollars are going.” Commissioner Steven Rogers noted that residents will have the opportunity to speak with Health Department nurses, investigators, Military & Veterans Affairs Bureau personnel, Senior Citizens Services staff, other personnel, and himself.
