3 Kearny PD officers promoted to higher ranks

Three of Kearny’s Finest were promoted to new ranks at a ceremony March 24 at Town Hall.

Michael Gontarczuk, the department’s public-information officer, among many other roles, is now a lieutenant.

John Fearon and Derek Hemphill are now both sergeants in an acting capacity, subject to Civil Service test results.

All promotions are affective April 1.

Hemphill and Fearon are sworn in as sergeants.
