Kearny Police Chief George King released the following information about a body pulled from the Passaic River this morning.

The Kearny Police Department received a call reporting a body in the Passaic River in the area behind 175 Passaic Ave., on Feb. 24, 2021, at approximately 10:48 a.m. Kearny Police and fire officials responded and recovered the body of a deceased adult man from the river.

The cause and manner of death are pending an examination by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office; however, the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature at this time.

The identification of the deceased man is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
