Prosecutor: Kearny man shot in Paterson; wounds are not fatal

A 26-year-old Kearny man was shot in the early hours of June 17 and he was being treated at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for non-fatal wounds. Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In- Charge Isa Abbassi said at 2:41 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2024, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Prospect and Ellison streets on a report of a shooting.

While on scene, Paterson police were notified that the victim, of Kearny, was transported in a private vehicle to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.  Members of the Paterson Police Department located a potential crime scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
