Oh when gas was 26¢ a gallon … like here with Benny Pezzolla

Meet Benny Pezzolla, the late brother of The Observer’s General Manager Bob Pezzolla and Frank Pezzolla of Frank’s GMC, Lyndhurst. Benny is seen here standing out in front of Frank’s Garage & GMC, which used to be located on Ridge Road near Valley Brook Avenue before it moved to its current location. Bob estimates the photo was likely taken in 1951 or 1952. Could you even imagine if those gas prices were in effect today? These two pumps were on the property, but there was another one actually curbside.
