The West Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed. Kevin M. Quinn, the president of the United Irish Associations of West Hudson, issued the following statement this evening:
The West Hudson United Irish Associations have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation very carefully and responsibly with the rest of the nation. We have been in close contact with the leaders of our communities including the mayors, local public safety leaders and the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management who have provided vital support and input to us as they do every year.
We have chosen to be deliberate in our decision making process evaluating the information and recognize that the situation is escalating rapidly daily.
As a result of these discussions for the sake of public health and public health resources in our communities we are postponing our Parade scheduled for this Sunday (March 15.)
The committee will begin work on rescheduling the parade for a later date.
There will be a lot of work involved in this effort and we will as always be counting on our Member Associations and volunteers as well as our local officials from Harrison, Kearny and East Newark, our sponsors, donors and small businesses who will be affected by our decision.
