BELLEVILLE — Township residents may get free COVID-19 testing Monday, June 8, at Belleville High School, Mayor Michael Melham said this week.
Testing will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the first hour reserved for seniors.
Although testing will be on a first-come, first-served basis, residents are asked to respect the time allotted for seniors’ testing.
The tests will be limited to the first 400 residents who show proof of residency.
No registration or medical insurance is required.
Residents may have the test done even if they are not showing symptoms.
The tests are made possible by a partnership between Belleville and the Smith Center for Infectious Diseases and Urban Health, a nonprofit organization.
“The only way to end the COVID-19 pandemic is to stop the spread of the virus,” Melham said. “Because there is no vaccine, testing has become an important tool in mitigating its spread. We invite residents to take advantage of this opportunity. And, if there is a need, we will look to set up additional testing in the near future.”
