Nutley’s Eileen Poiani has busy and productive fall semester at St. Peter’s University

Nutley resident Eileen L. Poiani, special assistant to the president/professor of mathematics and chairwoman of the Sustainability Council at St. Peter’s University has had a busy fall 2021 semester. She was presented with the New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award for volunteerism in the Lifetime Service category. She also received the Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education Humanitarian Award from the American Conference on Diversity. Additionally, she was appointed to the Advisory Council of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education and was reappointed to the Enforcement Resources Committee of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Poiani came to St. Peter’s in 1967 as the first woman in the mathematics department. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Douglass Residential College and the Graduate School-New Brunswick at Rutgers University, she was assistant to four previous St. Peter’s presidents and vice president for student affairs.
