Man who kept police at bay for 21 hours identified by Lyndhurst PD

The Thomas Avenue man who reportedly kept Lyndhurst police at bay for 21 hours over the last two days has been identified as 51-year-old Robert Condit, Det. Lt. Vincent Auteri, of the Lyndhurst Police Department, tells The Observer.

Condit surrendered to police in the 2 o’clock hour this afternoon after an extremely long standoff.

Since surrendering, Auteri says Condit was taken to the New Bridge Medical Center, Paramus, for psychiatric evaluation.
